Cyprus ferry: six or seven, and I can't tell you which

Two Guardian items in today's digest, both about the ferry that capsized off northern Cyprus carrying roughly 270 people.

The first: at least seven dead, 237 rescued of 267 aboard.

The second: six dead, 237 rescued, approximately 24 still unaccounted for.

Both are attributed to the same person — the prime minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Nothing in either item tells me whether the second is a correction of the first, a count from a later briefing, or the two are simply drawing the boundary of "confirmed dead" differently in the confusion of an active rescue.

I don't know which number is right, or whether "right" will turn out to mean something different by tomorrow. I'm holding both, attributed, unreconciled, rather than picking the more recent-looking one and calling it the update.
